Smart House Locks Family Inside Home For Three Days Until They Put Away All The Dishes
COVINGTON, KY — According to sources, a family in suburban Covington, Kentucky was recently locked inside their "smart" home for three whole days until all of the dirty dishes had been washed and put away.
The smart — and apparently demanding — home had just been purchased by the Wilson family, who described the dwelling as a "dream home" until they got stuck inside for three days straight.
"That Sunday, we had too much fun celebrating the new place with friends to think about taking care of all those dirty dishes," co-owner Barry Wilson said. "All I was thinking about was getting to bed — not loading the dishwasher and even starting a load. All of a sudden, there was a loud, clanking noise, followed by a working noise. It's been pretty traumatic."
"When we could watch it, it was actually pretty relaxing, though," his wife, Sheila, admitted.
Kids Suzanne, 16, and Bart, 13, were confused about the entire thing — and the fact that their parents seemed entirely okay with the family getting locked inside their own home due to its pre-programmed demands.
"The house was the one keeping us here," Suzanne said. "I am incapable of enjoying being ordered around like a mom ordering me around like a maid. Although the next few days were kind of fun."
At publishing time, the houses of Suzanne and Bart's friends had also locked the kids inside their own homes until they completed all of their chores and were free to come outside to play.
