New "Silent Mode" Feature For The Remarkable 2 Turns Off "Sounds Of Wife Yelling At You"
OSLO — Norwegian tech company Remarkable announced today that a planned software update for their popular digital writing tool, The Remarkable 2, will add a setting allowing users to turn off the "Sounds of Wife Yelling" feature.
"The Remarkable was created to provide a distraction-free writing and drawing experience," said company founder Magnus Wanberg, "but our users have found that the simulated sounds of their wives yelling were very distracting. With this update, they can turn those sounds off and enjoy the Remarkable once again."
As word of the announcement spread, users took to forums to express their excitement. "When I bought my Remarkable I was able to enjoy a little alone time and get some writing done," said one user. "It was so relaxing. Then out of nowhere, an update added the rising screeches of my wife yelling at me to do chores or play with the kids. I'm glad they are fixing that."
The update will not, however, remove the feature altogether. Wanberg explained, "Some users find that their wives' yelling motivates them by reminding them of why they try to immerse themselves in their writing in the first place. The update will retain the feature as the default setting but will give users the option to turn it off if they desire while retaining the sounds of a pen on paper."
At the time of publishing, Remarkable had issued another update promising to address a bug that added the sounds of a baby crying when the "Wife Yelling" feature was disabled.
