Man Who Wins Every Radio Call-In Contest Pretty Sure He's Just A Smooth Talker

TORONTO — Despite others attributing his frequent wins to a variety of underhanded tactics, Toronto man Murray Segil argued that his constant luck in winning radio contests was likely due more to his reputation as a skilled smooth talker.

"Here's the thing: when I hear about, for instance, Free Meth Fridays or Who Wants To Win My Wife, I just pick up the phone, dial the number a single time, and I'm immediately caller number nine," said Segil, winner of over forty different giveaways. "If I had to guess why that's the case, I would think it's from becoming known as the George Clooney of radio callers since my first win several years ago."

"What can I say? I've just always been a charismatic guy," added the smooth talker.

Though radio hosts were quick to deny Segil's accusations that he was illegally barred from contests, some listeners pointed toward a recorded phone call in which the smooth talker was able to convince CHUM 104's Marilyn Denis to reveal the frequency prize providers were getting in return for facilitating Inside Jobs, a Segil-led accounting program he claimed was changing the course of radio forever.

For their part, contest sponsors noted that Inside Jobs was indeed a popular program and that the likeness of Segil being banned for anything other than being "too smooth of a talker" wasn't likely.

At press time, caller number nine Mel Renard had won two tickets to Avril Lavigne by piggybacking off of Segil's reputation and telling the hosts she was his wife.
