Chanel Releasing Wired Earbud Necklace For Women Obsessed With 1990s Technology
PARIS — Fashion giant Chanel announced a new must-have accessory for women obsessed with 1990s technology: a gold necklace complete with dangling wired earbuds.
The beautiful audio jewelry is called The Premiere Sound
and is designed in partnership with Master & Dynamic, an American audio company closely associated with hand-made headphones and a relentless pursuit of precision and quality, according to Chanel.
"We are excited to partner with Master & Dynamic to create something so beautiful and unique, said Chanel creative director Arnaud Chastaingt.
In the 90s, Apple had not yet removed the headphone jack from their computers, so we were able to plug wired headphones directly into our PowerBooks. Those were exciting times and it's exciting to see a return to this technology."
The Premiere Sound is a gold sautoir necklace set with a unique built-in Chanel watch that weighs in at $15,000. In addition to its beauty, the necklace features wired earbuds that can dangle freely or be clipped alongside the watch.
Daughters of tech billionaires have praised the new fashion. Said Jane Bezos, Apple was so lame for removing their headphone jacks. Wired earbuds are amazing.
There have been no reported sales of The Premiere Sound to non-billionaires, but members of the fashion industry report that it's only a matter of time. The headphone jack has returned,
said Vogue editor Anna Wintour. I am inspired.
At publishing time, a Chanel competitor announced their intention to release a $20,000 gold belt that will support a bulky 1992 Apple PowerBook 170 laptop.
