Area Dad Just Moved 400 Pounds Of Meat Out Of Freezer To Get To That Bottle Of Johnnie Walker He's Saving For Special Occasions
PLEASANT DALE, IN — According to sources, local dad Jeff Hall spent the better part of Saturday afternoon moving some 400 pounds of meat out of the chest freezer in the garage just to access a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label he bought last year.
Friends say he insisted on the extra work because he was saving it for special occasions.
"Hey Dad, come sit down. Why are you working so hard?" said his son Jeremy from a nearby lawn chair. "We've got plenty of beer in the fridge." Jeff mumbled something about never moving all that meat again, finally working his way to the $200 bottle of imported whiskey several feet below the surface.
His other son Matt, who knows Jeff's love of a fine scotch, helped explain his father's actions.
"This isn't just a get-together with the neighbors," said Matt, "It's a special occasion and Dad wants to celebrate the news that Jeremy finally got a job!"
That seemed to help Jeremy understand why his dad was working so hard just to open a bottle of whiskey and pour himself a single.
"Even though the saran wrap had slipped off the top, the ice tasted fine and didn't damage the liquid inside the whiskey," said Jeff proudly. "It was distilled using precious malted barley and the finest of spring waters. Congrats Jeremy!" Jeff and the whole family then raised a glass toward Jeremy.
At publishing time, Jeff had finished the glass and continued rummaging around the freezer until he extracted another bottle his wife kept for special occasions — Booker's Bourbon. "These are 6-8 year spirits," said Jeff after moving the meat back into place, "Carefully blended and roasted by a master distiller named Booker Noe."
Jeff was soon half asleep in his recliner in the basement where he hoped to catch the finish of Sunday's ball game.
